LA BELLE ABONDANCE

Culinary and street performance
around a wood burning field kitchen

Creation 2004

The kitchen is fitted with a sound and light system, set up in the middle of the street. It takes two hours and a half for five to cook with loving care a delicious dish to be shared with the audience.
In a gysy atmosphere, the meal preparation is a pretext for a poetical and ludicrous situation wich privileges the interaction with the public.
The general theatrical pretext is the presence of a family run by the mother, a lively, dynamic, often possessive woman and the offspring (Alfred, Albert, Alphonse, Aneth et Ciboulette).
They all do their best but are sometimes overcome by their incompetence and awkwardness to create with love a simple recipee shared generously with the public (vegetable soup, hot chocolate, fruit compote, toasted sweet bread...).
La Belle Abondance has delighted the eyes, ears and taste buds of the public about forty times.
The form is not definitely fixed and leaves room for the actor's improvisations depending on the situation, the public and the place.
